WHAT'S HAPPENING NOW AT FISHER
FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK
Dear Fisher Families,
With so few weeks left of school and the sun shining brilliantly, our campus is a buzz with middle school energy! It is an exciting time for all of us!
We hope you had the opportunity to join us for our Fisher Showcase and Open House last week. Thank you to Micheal Stock, Ramil Ochoa, Kristen Tylko and the LGEF/One Community leadership for your support of this event together. The enthusiasm and positive vibes were palpable. Thank you also to all our faculty members for your participation in this important event.
Thank you to our wonderful HSC! The Staff Appreciation breakfast was phenomenal. We all felt very supported and loved. It was so nice of you to take the time to honor our staff members. Thank you!
Our Annual Picnic and Pops concert is coming up! Friday, May 17th, our talented musicians will be performing for us all. This event, held in our Gym, is a fan-favorite. I hope you can join us.
As always, thank you all for your continued support!
Take care.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS!
In an effort to improve our chronic absenteeism rate (chronic absenteeism is defined as missing 10 percent or more of school days due to absence for any reason), LGUSD has enabled auto-generated notifications that go home after 3, 6, 10, and 15 days of absences. You should expect to see these notifications if your student is absent for any reason after 3, 6, 10, and 15 days of total absences.
These letters are an important part of awareness around chronic absenteeism and ensure families know that we are available to support your student when needed.
After 10 absences, we may facilitate a collaborative meeting between home and school to better support your student attending school.
If you know your student will be out of school for an extended absence (5+ consecutive days), the earlier we are aware of the absence, the better we can support your student. Please let us know as soon as possible so we can plan accordingly.
HOMEWORK CENTER
Students have the opportunity to complete homework in a supervised setting with teacher support. Sign-in and sign-out are required. Students are not required to stay for the entire session.

The job description is attached for the role of coordinator to assist with implementation and instruction of educational programs, plus assistance with our outreach and encouragement work. DO YOU KNOW?
Do you know how many opportunities your child has at Fisher Middle School? One Community LG focuses on providing students with many options so that students can make their own choices concerning their education. One Community LG funds many of these electives thanks to contributions from parents like you.
Students can choose elective classes such as dance, STEAM, band, choir, or orchestra. During lunch, students can choose to participate in intramural sports, organized by our Noon Sports Coordinator, or relax in the Wellness Center with our many counselors. Student clubs at Fisher are also funded through One Community LG, as well as many after school community building activities, such as the recent Camp Trojan.
All 6th grade students participate in OCLG funded electives since they are either in the Music Program or the Wheel, which includes dance and STEAM. Many 7th grade students continue with the Wheel, which includes STEAM, or are in the Music Program, and some 8th grade students participate in both Spanish and music as their electives. Regardless of which elective your student participates in, it is important that all students be given the opportunity to make a choice at any point in their Fisher career.
Ask your child to tell you what they did in their elective or at lunch this week. To find out more about what your contributions to One Community LG will fund, please visit www.onecommunitylg.org.
